2025 Publication: ‘Volume targeted mask ventilation during simulated neonatal resuscitation – A randomized crossover manikin study
’ To our knowledge, this is the first study to compare mask PPV during simulated neonatal resuscitation using VTV-PPV with the NextStepTM versus a Draeger Ventilator or a T-piece with or without a visible RFM. With the NextStepTM, the i) mask leak was significantly reduced compared to all other devices, ii) the delivered VT was closer to the target of 5 mL/kg but not statistically significant, and iii) the peak inflation pressure was significantly lower than with T-Piece. - 2024 Publication: ‘Comparison of positive pressure ventilation devices during compliance changes in a neonatal ovine model’. CONCLUSION: The NextStepTM provides consistent VT during PPV, which is comparable to a mechanical ventilator.
